While it is not legal to sunbath in the nude on Malta’s public beaches, like many places in the world, many sunbathers throw caution to the winds and do it anyway. In some places like Gnejna Bay it seems widely accepted that there will be topless/nude sun worshipers enjoying the rocky beaches. It has long been a subject of great debate, and many people feel that it is an outdated law. When considering such a law that impacts people’s rights, perhaps the greatest consideration is that all parties involved are respectful of each other. Perhaps if the laws allowed sunbathing as opposed to gratuitous nudity, and those opposed to any form of nudity stayed within the bounds of beaches known for a more modest view, we could all co-exist and just enjoy the beaches!
