The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated on 8th December. It celebrates the intense belief in the clean and tidy Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a standout among the most imperative Marian feasts in the formal datebook of the Roman Catholic Church, commended around the world. The event is also celebrated in Malta and there is a local holiday on this day.
First Ever Feast of the Immaculate Conception
First ever Feast of the Immaculate Conception was celebrated as a Holy Day of Obligation in 1708. It was distinguished with Holy Mass. Marches and public rallies were arranged in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Nowadays, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated with novenas and masses in all over Malta.
Virgin Mary - Well-loved Around the World
Our Lady is well-loved everywhere in the world. According to the words of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, “Do not feel tire from learning from Virgin Mary. Do not stop appreciating and considering her beauty and letting ourselves be guided by her. She is the one who always leads us to the original source and fullness of authenticity. She also leads us to the infinite beauty of God, revealed to us in Christ, Son of the Father and Son of Mary.”
On this superior day, let us all turn to Our Lady, Mother of God. Let us pray for her intervention and fortification and invoking the gift of peace in every aspect of the world as it is today. Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated to thank the Blessed Virgin Mary for her motherly love and for helping to intercede in our many prayer intentions.
