The range of gluten-free, lactose-free and hypoallergenic products in general is surprisingly good in Malta. The scope does not differ too widely when compared to countries with hypoallergenic products has been more established for a long time. Malta can offer much in the context of this kind of food as it now is in the middle of the Mediterranean, one of the places in the world where white bread is the focus on the dining table.

The reason that there is such a good variety is certainly all the tourists and the multicultural workforce operating in Malta very active business centers. The purchasing power of all northern Europeans above all, we can call huge.

I miss a little more allergy awareness among the restaurants staff. But there is an awareness that one has missed, no matter where you come in the world. Sometimes you meet waitresses who do not even know what gluten is. Then how can they ever know, what is gluten free. There is much to work with, in order to make people more understanding. Not everyone can eat everything.

A study of AAFA showed in 2014 showed people in US visit the emergency room about 200,000 times each year Because of food allergies. Almost 10,000 people stay in the hospital each year Because of food allergies. Also, 38.7 percent of food-allergic children in US have a history of severe reactions.

Food allergies are more or less common in different places in the world. But Malta has many different nationalities, staying in the small island. In addition to the local population, Swedes are not unusual to find on the island. 15-20% of the Swedish population is allergic.

15-20 is a worthy base to sell and think about hypoallergenic products you might think?
