Malta and the Mediterranean Countries

Malta (right), Gozo (left), Comino (middle)
The island-state of Malta consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. These islands are nestled in the Mediterranean Sea, just south of Italy. Other neighbors are Greece and Kosovo. Malta is the largest island of the 3, and is a popular tourist destination because of its rich culture, beautiful weather and friendly atmosphere. Historically the Malta archipelago was paramount for the domination of the Mediterranean because of its strategic location. Mediterranean influence is present in many aspects of Maltese life today. Music, food, and dress all bear the earmarks of Mediterranean overtones.
