Symptoms of Stress

In yesterdays Blog of Malta we wrote about stress and how much less stress it is in Malta than in Sweden. Today, we continue to write about stress and the symptoms for stress.

How easily it can creep up on you is the most dangerous thing about stress. You get use to the feeling and it starts to feel normal. The reason that it is so important to be aware of the common warning signs and symptoms of stress is that you do not even notice that you are stressed.

However, there is some symptoms that is visible cognitive, emotional, physical and behavioral stress.
The cognitive symptoms is memory problems, inability to concentrate, poor judgment, seeing only the negative, anxious or racing thoughts and constant worrying.
Emotional symptoms is depression or general unhappiness, anxiety and agitation, moodiness, irritability, or anger, feeling overwhelmed, loneliness and isolation and other mental or emotional health problems
Physical symptoms is aches and pains, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, dizziness, chest pain, rapid heart rate, loss of sex drive and frequent colds or flu.
Symptoms that are behavioral is eating more or less, sleeping too much or too little, withdrawing from others, procrastinating or neglecting responsibilities, using alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs to relax and nervous habits (e.g. nail biting, pacing).
